Hi,
just finished cleaning out my media raid in preparation for the next few months of editing.
while it's nice and clean i was wondering if there was any maintenance or preventative maintenance i could do
thanks!
edCheck the disk in Disk Utility. If you havent noticed any problems before, I dont think there is anything to worry about.
But running Disk Utility and checking for permissions and fixing it doesnt hurt.

Nice. Having fun yet? ;)
Also, I just noticed, no Google ads. Is that going to stay that way, or is it temporary?

I am having trouble using the photos uploaded to IPhoto. For some reason, when I try to upload these to Shutterfly or Snapfish, they are telling me the file is too small to even print as a 4X6......
When you export from iPhoto you can select the desired resolution. Have you set it yourself or are you letting it default? I suspect the latter.

I've noticed that the lines at the Detroit area Apple retailers are very small compared to the rest of the country. I guess Detroiter's have different priorities than the rest of the country. This is a good thing IMO, we still love our idevice.

Is it possible to have the 2D dock in Lion as was available via a terminal hack on Leopard and Snow Leopard? Also does this work with re-enabling the little blue dots under the open apps?

So I ordered a Rebel Micro Sim Pro, with the 32/64 bit programmer on 10 Apr, and I have yet to receive it. My order status just says Payment Received.
Has anyone else ordered a Rebel Micro Sim and received it yet? Is the company legit? They keep posting some crap about holidays and UK Royal Weddings on their site...

The current MacBook I have is the 2008 unibody. It was the initial launch unit for the switch to the aluminum casing.
But I see your point. And as I previously said, the iPad isn't a replacement, but more of merely an interim solution, and a chance to purchase something I was in the market for to begin with.
I would really appreciate some input on how to go about doing this. Believe me, I hate wasting money just as much as the next person, so I appreciate the concern. But I feel confident with my decision thus far, and hope to remain so.
So if anyone has any advice for how to do this transition best, it would be much appreciated.
Well then if you aren't going to be doing anything that you need a computer specifically for, go ahead and sell the MacBook; only if you know for certain that you'll be able to get another, better computer down the road within a limited amount of time.

Start with the normal stuff.... zap pram/nvram, reinstall OS X, then call AppleCare.
And repairing permissions, slightly less drastic than an OS install.

I plan on buying a MBP and will wait for the free iPod. I plan on selling the free printer right away then giving the iPod as a gift for father's day.

I've been avoiding the 10.6.4 update. This is just another reason.
It sure would be nice to get the security improvements without all of the other drama.
Totally agree, I've avoided 10.6.4 as well because of all of the problems.

KeithPratt makes the very valid point that every mp4 isn't equal and it is quite possible to make a video from an HD file that is too complex to read by some machines.
Also, an m4v is simply an mp4 with a different extension. Change the file name from X.m4v to X.mp4 and it will play better on some equipment. Handbrake allows you to choose which extension you prefer, but you can always change the the extension after you've encoded the file.
You might also ask your clients to install a program called VLC, which is excellent at playing a wide variety of file types.
Thx for the help. I will try to change to MP4, instead of M4V. I still dont understand how some files would play, and some not, when I've used the same presets?? Is there any way that I can get complete codec-compression info off of the files now? Just to double-check if they differ in any way?

hi all i bought a win 7 family pack home premium and i used the 3 user license to install win 7 on my mbp, imac, and a pc i have
if i remove it from one of the computers can i install win 7 on another computer or once its installed on a computer is it locked to that system?
i ask because i am getting rid of my pc for a custom build
IIRC Family Pack is three retail upgrade licenses. In that case it should work out fine, though you may have to call MS to activate.

We're gonna play a game.
Let's assume that he is in the developer program. That would mean that he has access to the Developer Forums. After all, any person that has legitimate access to the Developer Preview would be able to post there. He could just ask around on there to see if anyone else has had a similar issue, maybe they will have a solution.
Ready to play?
Damn. Well that game was fun while it lasted, wasn't it?
This is exactly why Apple doesn't do public betas of iOS or Mac OS X.
i do have a real copy of it i just dont have aces to the developer forum

There is no direct impact on their bottom line because, unlike Sam's Club, Costco doesn't make a dime on any of the products they sell, only the membership fees. Of course there is indirect negative impact if the sole reason you would become a member was to buy an iPad, but I'm willing to bet the number of people who would do that is negligible.
That is not true. Costco has very thin profit margins on what it sells but the margins on there.
Right because people will not just go to one of the 100 other places sell Apple hardware. It will not effect them, only Costco...
A couple of years ago Costco stopped selling Coke products for about a month as contract negotiations between the two hit an impasse. Being a massive retailer in the US means you have leverage (I think Costco is #3). I doubt that will sway Apple though as their popularity currently has them pretty much printing money.
