Hi
I hold a H1b Visa but did not work after coming to US.
Can anybody guide me regarding my current status.
My H1 was approved in 2007 quota and i entered US in march 2008..but was not successful in getting a job and my employer is not running any payroll..
can anybody help me with this??

We just applied for a student loan and got approved. Here are a few things we found out during the course of applying for the loan.
The only difference between you applying while on H1 vs. as PR/Citizen are the interest rates. Also if you are a PR/Citizen you qualify for a federal Stafford loan, which has the least interest rate and the best terms.
If you are on H1 and you can get a PR/Citizen as a co-signer you can qualify for other private loans with lower interests than without a co-signer. The only issue with having a co-signer is that it their credit report is going to reflect the loan and could impact their credit worthiness.
You [& co-signer] will have to send documents proving you are legal in this country. You need to fax - first page of passport, H1 approval, PR card [if you claim you are a PR]
PS: Not all companies give Student loans to Non-Citizens or Non-PR's. While on H1 the best deal we found was at http://www.accessgroup.org/

Agreed.. But again something has to trigger the movement. Eg. I can understand that happening, if you file AC21 and you receive RFE. Or Your GC filing employer revoking your I 140 and you receive I-485 Denial letter etc.

My friends recently went to the consulte in Nogales to get their H1B stamped and they told me that we can enter Nogales with out any visa ... You might want to explore that or find any other places that are closer to where u live and do not need a visa to get a new I94 ...
I am in the same boat as u and i donot even have my new passport with me yet ...

I do not have a memo or web link, however, when I went for my fingerprinting appointment I asked about the interim EAD of the processing time dragged for my husband.
I was told that there are no facilities at any local USCIS offices for the production of interim EAD's. If your application goes beyond the 90 day time limit, you have two choices. Go to the local office and ask them to send an email to the service center to ask for them to process quickly or issue interim EAD, or call the 1 800 number directly of the service center and cut out the middle man.
I've heard that too, no more interim EADs. I was just commenting on the text of the post.

some where i read that USCIS follow FIFO for 485 under normal conditions. so if that is the case irrespective of PD who ever applies 485 first whose application will be processed first right? i am not sure on this that's why i asked this question.

Unless of course you are an illegal maid from El Salvador, in which case you can apply for your green card in person at any USCIS window by 9 am, and pick up your green card by 4 pm the same day. You have the option of premium processing, where if you pay $5 extra, you get along with your green card a U.S. passport, voters regsitration card, perpetual drivers license and a pack of "Hershey's Kisses" (or an actual kiss from the USCIS officer, your choice)

Thanks GCPool. i will probably go with the 485 EAD to be Safe plus logically it makes sense too to sue 485 EAD because once applied for 485 that is your current status...Infact if you contact the school and tell them you are a 485 adjustee they may cancel your EAD OPT

I think all the issue will be resolved if number 5 is done. No need for H1 extension, and even there is a in efficiency in USCIS you can get gc within 3 years if they double or triple EB quota. So no need to meet President just meet Congressmen and try pressing them to increase EB quota.
Can we get an appointment with the President and explain the problems faced by EB immigrants....
1. Travel restrictions (no travel during H1 extension etc..)
2. Driver license issues
3. Wasted Visa numbers
4. Inefficiency of USCIS

Sorry Man I never posted a reply to the substituting for gradients. But your latter image was much better with image swap (instead of gradient). Doing your navigation in flash would be an excellent idea (instead of mapped images). I am thinking of writing a tut on how to make better gradients without using gradients....you think peeps would be interested? This technique has produced astounding results for me....I am trying to work on the grunge thing I jsu cannot produce anything cool....by the way me2 is very cool.

The spreadsheet is totally sorted now according to the PD. I had to make one change though. The day of the month of PD was not mentioned and I had to write something to sort it out. I made it 1st of the month for everybody to be able to so sorting. I guess we can live with that abstraction.
Some people are not acting responsibly on the data. I made changes now. I brought the data back and also you will have to login into your gmail account now tobe able to make changes.
My humble request to all please act responsibly.
Do not edit somebody elses data.
Do not add/delete/modify any column.
Do not sort the data. If you really feel the urge, import it to your local computer and then sort it.
I will sort the data according to PD periodically.
You can add your own row at the end . Also please please do not sort the data.

I am trying to figure out the same and after rigorous communication with my lawyer and a few companies, I came to an estimate that it may take anywhere between, atleast 12-18 mnths on a thumb rule. Again, I understand its on a case by case basis.
@KabAyegaMeraGc - question for you: if you were qualified for EB-2, why did you in first place filed for EB-3? Looking at your profile, you may would have been just about to get your GC if you would have been in EB-2 bucket. Just curious. Also, what is your lawyer's take on this whole porting thing?

You should not have a problem. But you will get an RFE and then you need to complete. But good if you can get medical examination completed, because almost everyone would have put that shot in India. Convey your doctor to say yes and complete it.

It's hard to explain, but the first two don't really do anything for me. The third one is certainly a step in the right direction (totally fugly JPEG artifacts ignored), and I think that with a bit of post processing you could really take it in some interesting directions. My eye only notices the deer after a little while; if you wanted to focus more on the deer, you could use a masked adjustment layer to subtly (the key word is subtly - very subtly) darken everything but the animal, and another adjustment layer to add a tiny bit of contrast only to the deer. Of course, QJ will come up with many other and more creative things to try, but that's off the top of my head a few ideas to start with. :)

My wife CA bar exam for which she needed SSN. without bar affiliation she could not get a job. So it was the same situation. that is when we came to know about SSN without work authorization. Initially SSN person told no, it is not feasible but after showing the process requirement and providing the required documetns , the 2nd time we went we got it. It is also depends on the knowledge of the SSN person at the window. But law has it in provision to issue non-work SSN
